Wikipedia as an echo chamber of canonicity: 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die

The idea of using the number of Wikipedia sitelinks as part of the “Metrics of World Literature” as “a simple measure of canonicity” has been gaining traction. We aim to adapt the idea that multiple language versions can serve as a marker of canonicity to a specific canon project. Furthermore, we incorporate additional metadata obtained automatically from Wikidata and national library catalogues to assess the internal balance and representational breadth of canon lists.
